Shawn

Shawn started Bright Night Anesthesia while working at Holston Valley Medical Center, in hopes of providing doctor offices and surgery centers with high quality anesthesia services provided by Nurse Anesthetists.

This commitment to quality has been a foundation of our practice at BNA and our clients find the fast reliable anesthetic refreshing, while patients are experiencing a higher level of satisfaction during their procedure.

Prior to founding Bright Night Anesthesia, Shawn attended East Tennessee State University where he played basketball his freshman year and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with honors.

In 2004 he moved to metropolitan New Jersey and lived for two years prior to starting Nurse Anesthesia School at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. During this time, Shawn was an active member and repentant of his CCRN certification, receiving multiple nominations to Sigma Theta Tau and other honor societies. After completing graduate studies and moving back home in 2008, he began his anesthesia practice in the region

Besides anesthesia practices, Shawn is an active member in the community, profession, and an advocate for Diabetes education. Over the past decade, he has volunteered and educated many children and their parents in managing habits and concerns of diabetes.

Also, being a Type 1 diabetic himself and coming from a strong support system in managing this disease, he knows the importance of education and awareness of this issue.

Shawn has been an active member of the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TANA) since 2009 during this time he has been on the board of TANA and serving in various other capacities

At the end of the day Shawn enjoys exercise, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family. He learned early in life that his professional status and accomplishments must be balanced with his personal life, because "it means nothing without time to enjoy life and the people that helped us along the way".
